Contextual Variables

A predictor variable that represents some property of the observation's environment or context (e.g., where they live).

The distinction between a contextual variable and other predictor variables is only usually meaningful when there is substantially less variation in the context variable (e.g., if all of the sample live in only a small number of geographic locations).
